Youth engagement

The Act for Youth Centre of Excellence describes Youth Engagement as the result of adult-youth partnerships that create positive change through the development of youth initiatives. A Youth Engagement Project allows youth to be involved in the planning and decision making of issues that affect them and those around them. As a result of being a part of a Youth Engagement project youth build skills, confidence and an overall connectedness to their community. The following youth engagement projects were developed by youth ,for youth to prevent gambling problems among youth ages 13-24. Our mandate is to prevent and protect young people from gambling problems, while promoting informed and balanced attitudes and behaviors towards gambling. We work locally with youth to involve young people from diverse backgrounds in issue identification, community action and global education. Our work is centered on our Youth Voices Process for authentic and meaningful youth engagement.

Committees are typically made up of youth service providers, addiction and mental health service providers, educators, credit counselors, and youth.
