The Act for Youth Centre of Excellence describes Youth Engagement as the result of adult-youth partnerships that create positive change through the development of youth initiatives. A Youth Engagement Project allows youth to be involved in the planning and decision making of issues that affect them and those around them. As a result of being a part of a Youth Engagement project youth build skills, confidence and an overall connectedness to their community. Committees are typically made up of youth service providers, addiction and mental health service providers, educators, credit counselors, and youth.
